Going to Korea? Here are some tips!

Korea isn’t the most popular destination when it comes to Asian travel, but it is certainly one of the most discussed and asked about countries here on Asia Tour Travel. Whether that’s to do with people just being genuinely intrigued about the country or the fact that there is very little information out there on Korea from a tourist perspective remains to be seen.

Frequent subjects I am asked about include the weather, customs, health and last but not least, the Korean language. There are a few other subjects but these are the main ones. Obviously there is far too much to address in a single post, but I’ll try and touch on each below to give you at least some idea of what you can expect should you ever be lucky enough to make it to Korea on vacation.

Of course, there is a lot more than this you need to know before visiting Korea. These are just a handful of Korea travel tips that you should be aware of before you start planning your dream trip.

Like most Asian countries, Korea boasts a summer monsoon season but what is fairly unique is its cold winter climate. The best time to visit the country is in the autumn time but if you’re there for the fantastic slopes and some winter sports, anytime from November through March is ideal. This is what most tourists opt for as the summer monsoon season isn’t too attractive!

Customs are another popular topic with regards to Korea with lots of our visitors wanting to know about departure tax which at the time of writing is W8,000. It is also true that visitors to Korea can indeed import duty free for personal use.

Finally the language. The Koren language is spoken by 65,000,000+ people over several dialects. Many people assume that Koreans speak a mixture of other Asian languages but this isn’t the case.
